Fr. Peter,
All of the lax posts on being observant underscrore the laziness factor that is entering our community [Orthodox]. It is that same lax attitude that allowed the infiltration of this nonsense to begin with.

Hoshani is just a variation in terminology. It is not in average usage.
The average person will call the Feast: Palm Sunday, whereas the official naming is: The Feast of the Entry of the Lord into Jerusalem.
In same manner: Christmas vs. The …
The linen folded in the form of a triangle that is used in the Confession Chant by the deacon, and subsequently in walking before the Eucharist, symbolizes the wings of the Cherubim. It identifies a respect for the Hallowed Presence of the Lord. I…
I often get weird dreams after eating Chinese food for dinner. Don't worry about the dreams keep in mind the day and our obligations in it. God made the day for us, let us rejoice and be glad in it.
Until the Feast of the Cross. Thereafter it becomes the Hoshani tone for the three-day celebration. The Festal tune is used in conjunction with the Hoshani tone.
You may insert and include the Apostles' Doxology at any time. I think people tend to do so relative to the Fast & Feast of the Apostles, but really it is a matter of time and how many doxologies can be said without lengthening the Raising of t…

Here's a series of observations that I thought were funny relative to this papal visit:

TITL,
I never said Our Lord was a Hamite. He was most definitely a Jew and a Semite.
Please read the posts before making comments.
I was merely pointing out that one of the great points is that He was called from Egypt.
It is probably not the best thing to refer to him as "the Black". It is not because of being P.C., but rather, he is known by the Church as 'St. Abba Moses the Strong' [Pi-gori ethowab avva Moses].
The reason I love the book Psalms, is that it is so expressive of any of the emotions I may carry at a given point. It is also quite an amazing reading of a soul's dialogue with God.
It allows you to realize that you are not the first human being …
