The current canonical Patriarch of Eritrea (currently in exile) was a bishop.
The current Patriarch of Ethiopia was an Archbishop (for all of North America).
One must keep in mind the great tragedies that the three Patriarchs lived through for which there was a fear that a monk out of the monastery would not be able to handle the situation, ie, Armenian Genocide, WWI, WWII. There was a fear that the Ott…
The only way to experience Fr. David's sheer will in prayer is to be right next to him. It will teach you about the enthusiasm and the summoning of the mind and heart to prayer.
The Book of Ordinations and Consecrations does not have Psalter in it at all (the same printing that I mentioned earlier). When the Psalter was introduced 1/3 into the Papacy of Pope Shenouda III, they would read the prayers for the Reader, but wou…
Unfortunately I live in three zip codes depending on the day of the week and I cannot put the book into my hand right now.
The book is the cranberry red with brown leather binding of the Rites of Ordination and Consecration. Every church has a cop…
I.M.,
I'm not contesting the manuscripts, not in the slightest.
Certain things evolved in the Church. The book that I mentioned is standard issued and accepted by the Holy Synod of the Coptic Orthodox Church.
There are plenty of practices and ri…
My Dear Father,
You forgot to mention that my prediction came true in the new Armenian Bishop.
What name was he given, or did he keep his Vartabed's name?
BTW, it wasn't much of a prediction. It was insider information (EEP--extra electronic perc…
SubDeacons and higher are really the only ones that should be touching anything in the Altar.
Deacons/Archdeacons may hold the Chalice as it is filled with the Holy Blood.
There is no mandate that allows a Reader or Psalter to serve in the altar le…
I.m.,
I beg to differ. In the Arabic/Coptic Book (not the English), all items on the altar are to be consecrated. The English is an abbreviated book. It is not comprehensive.
In a simple answer, most of the Saints in the Commemoration of the Saints (Diptychs) are ecclesiastically ordained and are identified as a continuity of the Sacrament (Mystery) of the Holy Orders, and the Monastic consecrations.
Everything is consecrated including the altar itself. The altar board is a temporary feature until the altar is consecrated. There are prayers in the Book of Consecrations and Ordinations that specifies each item. This is a continuation of the pr…
Sawiris brought his comments to a public forum, ie, the media.
He made absurd comments. They beg a reply.
The guy is looking to protect either himself, his family, his riches, his prestige, or whatever, but it should not come at the expense of the…
There can be no optimism or faith in any Muslim, even the "cute I love Christian types".
There is only Hope in God.
The numbers in the election were already discussed and agreed upon.
Minagir,
If you haven't noticed, that is what is implemented. I'm just stating the obvious.
Nobody listens anyway. Why would anyone begin to listen to me now?
There are no atheists or non-believers in God.
The three types of atheists I have experienced:
1. The arrogant, pseudo-intellectual;
2. The immoral, who wishes to deny God so he can placate his conscience about his sin;
3. The angry one who thi…
I think the preferrable for Vespers and the Liturgy is: sweat pants, hell inspired t-shirts, torn smelly jeans, shirts hanging out of your pants (trousers for the British).
Personally, I think the above is much more fitting than wearing a tonia.

Foxes have holes, birds have nests, yet the ILSM hath not a place to lay down his electrons.
For those of us who share the heritage of being Orthodox we are brothers and sisters in the Lord.
For those of us who share the heritage of being Coptic, w…
I'm generally a very creative person with a nasty tone. If you hybridize those two aspects, you get quite an explosive combination.
I have a detailed background in: Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Biochemistry, Philosophy and Classics (as well a…
Rem,
That is exactly what I meant.
Stavro,
Those funny little parties are part of the deal to give a semblance of "democracy". If you read back your stated chronology, and the limited resource towards possible election, the new parties "miraculo…
I don't like people who speak out of both sides of their mouth, and for that matter who are willing to sacrifice their blood lineage to save their hide and bank account.
His statements are absurd.
He has cocktails with the people that are torturin…
This is my definition of a "prophet" that I used to use in Sunday School: 'when you sell something for more than you paid for it.'
Metaphorically and allegorically, 'I sold something for more than I paid for it.'
