Lent - For the Lamb :: الصوم الكبير - للحمل

+ O Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world, who suffered and died instead of the sinners of whom I am chief. What shall I say, and what shall I speak?! Father, I have sinned against heaven and before You, and I am no longer worthy to be called Your son. Make me like one of Your hired servants, and let Your mercies overtake me.

+ O Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world, I confess that I have dared to defile Your holy temple with my sins, and I have corrupted the pure image in which You have created me, so cleanse me from my impurities.

+ O Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world, I have fled to Your mercy and kindness, for Your mercies are innumerable, and You have said, “I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance” (Luke 5:32); and “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick” (Luke 5:31); and “The [sinner] who comes to Me I will by no means cast out" (John 6:37). Therefore accept my repentance.

+ O Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world, You are the forgiving God who forgives iniquity and sin and does not keep anger forever, for You are compassionate, merciful, slow to anger, abundant in mercy and lovingkindness, and forgiving iniquity and transgression. Therefore forgive me my sins and have compassion upon me.

+ O Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world, You do not delight in the death of a sinner but that he should return and live; and You came into the world to seek and to save that which was lost. So save me from eternal destruction.

+ O Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world, You are the good Shepherd who laid down His life for the sheep, and You are He who sought the lost sheep and the lost coin and found them. Have mercy on Your people and Your inheritance and the flock of Your pasture.

+ O Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world, have mercy upon me, O Lord, for I am weak; heal me, for my bones are troubled and my soul is greatly distressed. Return, O Lord, deliver my soul; hear my groaning and look upon my affliction.

+ O Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world, do not rebuke me in Your anger, nor chasten me in Your wrath, nor deal with me according to Your justice. Remember that I am the work of Your hands, and have compassion on me. Do not enter into judgment with Your servant, for in Your sight no living person shall be justified. If You judge me according to Your justice, I will find no excuse; so deal not with me according to my sins, and take me not in the midst of my days.

+ O Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world, forgive me and pardon me so that I may sing to You, saying, “Blessed are those whose transgressions are forgiven, and whose sins are covered” (Psalm 31:1 LXX). I confess my sin to You, and I did not hide my iniquity. Therefore forgive me and cover me.

+ O Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world, I confess that my iniquities have gone over my head like a heavy burden, too heavy for me to bear, and my strength has failed me; so help me and have mercy on my troubles.

+ O Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world, my sin and sorrow are continually before me. I declare my iniquity, and I am sorry for my sin. Do not remember the sins of my youth nor my transgressions; according to Your mercy remember me, for Your goodness’ sake, O Lord, and do not forsake me, nor be far from me.

+ O Jesus Christ our God, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world, purify us from every sin, forgive our sins, remit our iniquities, and pardon our trespasses for the sake of this holy sacrifice. Sanctify our souls, our bodies, our spirits, our hearts, our eyes, our understandings, our thoughts, and our intentions, that with a pure heart we may dare with boldness without fear to call Your Father who is in heaven and say,
